My Poster Third draft

Here I have simply changed the positioning of the album cover insert and test and it now works better along with the repositioning of the picture. (Moved to the left so his person fills the left space and the album cover and text the right hand side) This is close to completion now but I think one or two more adjustments are necessary.

My Poster Second draft

The second draft I think is a vast improvement on the first draft. As I had mentioned in the first post of my poster, having a photo might have sent the development backwards but I did mention having an animation of some sort which is what I have done to the photo so it looks more a part of the poster rather than just an add on. However I then thought the positioning of the test and album cover insert was wrong so I am going to change it.

My Poster first draft

Here is the first draft of my poster, It took a long time to get to this point in the design because I found it difficult to get the right layout, after the amount of time spent on it, it doesn't look too bad, I think the fonts and layouts of them are okay, but the background colour needs changing or at least some form of change to the middle as it doesn't look quite done. I took some inspiration from other posters in my research as to where to put some text. Also some posters have the album in the background so I thought instead of a photo or animation of the person (although I may try that as well) I would use the artwork instead. I will try some other things and see what fits.

My album artwork Inside cover Final Draft

As you can see, I have finally sorted the outlining pattern by improving the definition of the lines and darkening the patterns detailing. And like the front and rear covers the titles are indented to look complete. Now I only have my poster to produce and the rest of my filming.

My album artwork Inside cover third draft

I thought the underlining was the last part of the puzzle to making the inside cover but as it turned out, I just needed a final look back at my other parts of the product I've made to finish it off.

My album artwork Inside cover second draft

I thought I'd first address the text issue and also make it bold. I has a better look than the first one but I still need to do something else.

My album artwork Inside cover first draft

The first of my inside covers reflects both the front and rear covers as is the convention within much of my research. Obvious flaws are the different shades of black on the borders which lacks definition also. Additionally, although I liked it at first the text looks just too plain and simple, it lacks the completed look and as I haven't put "IT" on a line below I think I should change it to the same as the other covers.

Further Filming

Weather permitting I hope to continue filming tomorrow. The weather lately has slowed production and further complications like unavailability of both myself and actors has also played a part. I aim to get a further full minutes worth of footage that I can put in my first cut at least.

My album artwork rear cover final

This is the final rear cover, as you can see I decided the place for the text was central. It directs attention of the audience inwards into the centre as does the titles and information on the bottom. Also it looks like the spaces to the sides has been intentionally un-used otherwise the overall look of the cover would be ruined. Lastly I have indented the writing in a similar way to that of the front cover which will be repeated in the inside cover as well. This cover ties in much better with the front meaning I can now move on. I will next work on the inside cover.

My album artwork rear cover fourth draft

I've changed where the text is from left to right and the problem still hasnt be resolved in my opinion. The other additions made are the rest of the copyright information and logos. One more change is neccessary.

My album artwork rear cover third draft

So as you can see I've made a few obvious changes, first of which is getting rid of the photo but it has instantly created a problem, now the cover looks unintentionally bland. Even though I've changed positioning of the titles and the text slightly it just looks like it's missing something. I've even started adding more preffesional looking things like barcodes but even there it looks like it's lacking something so I'll do some more research into it and hopefully complete it within another two drafts.

My album artwork rear cover second draft

Here I've tried implementing elements of the front cover onto the rear but keep the photo at the same time. Although it looks better, I still think the photo is disrupting the appearance too much and when asked, peers agreed so I am going to get rid of it completley and edit whats left to finish the design.

My album artwork rear cover first draft

This is my first draft of my rear cover. I thought I would try something similar to the covers I'm taking inspiration from and use a photo for the cover, however it hasn't really worked because I had to shrink it down due to its large file size and this has distorted it. Additionally, the different colours in the photo means no clear colour scheme can be defined making the rest of the rear cover difficult to make. I have also ignored other colours within e.g the front cover so if you imagine them together as a complete package it wouldn't look right. So I will continue to edit this.

Decision about footage

After much time and thought, the HD problems I've encountered have restricted what I can produce as a result. As the footage is too big and unreadable for the PC's that everyone is using (software pinnacle Studio v12), I will continue with the rest of my shooting then when complete, use the Mac for editing and once the whole video is complete I will upload it to youtube which reads HD files, then I simply copy the embed code into blogger and then the videos can be viewed. This will also be done for the rough cuts.
