Research and planning, Posters, Razorlight Tour poster

Iv'e decided to look at other genres for tour posters as this will help me to understand what conventions are found on other artists artwork etc. It means I can better target my audience and avoid using other genres' techniques altogether. This one of Razorlights "en Tournee" is an excellent example because it's a simple and elegant poster which gives no more information than in needs to. It features an inset of their album, a newer photo of the band and a few sponsors along the bottom. This in turn reflects their music which is simple, subtle and infectious. The previous poster I researched with Kanye West on the front was colourful and vibrant, the similarities between them are very little, other than use of a lot of black on the poster. Razorlights' music is simpler as is their poster. This indicates to me that I need my poster to be relatively busy, however I may find a similar genre poster which is simple so if I do I need to take that into account as well.
